This is no half-hearted EQ experiment like the old EQC, and every EQ car since — but the first true EV version of Mercedes’ best-selling car, the GLC, now built from the ground up on their brand-new MB.EA platform. And straight away, the GLC EV feels like it’s pushing #Mercedes in a new direction. The grille draws inspiration from the legendary 1960s 600 Pullman, while the proportions sharpen against the now defunct EQE SUV and EQC. It’s radically different to the ICE GLC (which I think is the better looking car), but you can’t deny it’s both brave and bold. At the same time, it inherits the radical interior concepts from the new CLA, and the hyper screen of the past — but in a much better new version that finally brings the single screen concept to reality — and it’s truly stunning! Underneath, it packs impressive numbers: • 94 kWh NMC battery with over 700 km range (430 miles) • 800V architecture – 300 km in just 10 minutes, up to 330 kW DC charging • GLC 400 4MATIC – 482 hp via dual PSM motors with a rear 2-speed transmission • Future variants confirmed, including lower-priced 58 kWh LFP models Chassis and dynamics are equally serious, with S-Class derived AIRMATIC suspension, predictive ride height adjustment via voice command, and rear-axle steering up to 4.5°. Braking tech is cutting-edge too, with the new One-Box braking system giving consistent pedal feel while handling 99% of stops electrically. Efficiency is claimed at a staggering 93% battery-to-wheel. And yes – it tows, with a rated capacity of 2.4 tonnes.
