I know the title of this video says corns but these are not really corns on the tops of this patients toes! These are scars caused by wearing tight fitting footwear and then using corn plasters and other acids on top of the toes as well as picking the lesions. This leads to a scar which never causes pain but can dramatically affect your quality of life. My patients often tell me the impact of these scars, they avoid wearing certain footwear, they lose self confidence, avoid going on holidays in warm countries and I have heard all sorts of stories about the lengths by patients go to hide these lesions from their partners and loved ones. This particular procedure involves local anaesthetic (which you do not see me administering in this video) and removal of the scar with sutures.
