Legacy of a Legendary Arch Bishop In 1972, he started teaching at Pontifical Urbaniana University (P.U.U), Rome. In 1978 Acharuparambil was awarded a Ph.D. from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, Angelicum, Rome with a dissertation entitled The destiny of man in the evolutionary thought of Sri Aurobindo. He was consulter of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue for 5 years from 1990. He was also consulter of the Congregation for Evangelization of the Peoples, a member of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Duologue. He wrote several books on Hindu philosophy and religion. He has also authored 48 research papers You are my professor, you have taught me many things about India,” Dr. Daniel Acharuparambil received this great compliment from none other than Pope John Paul-II, one of the most popular Popes of the Catholic Church. In 1986, he became Dean of the Faculty of Missiology at P.U.U; he also served as rector there from 1988 to 1994, i.e. for two terms. He was the first Asian for this higher post , which is equivalent to the Vice - Chancellor of an Indian University. Archbishop Acharuparambil had played a significant role in the all-round progress of the Archdiocese. His accent on community service led to the foundation of KRLCC, KRLCBC. Navadarsan and AISAT are initiatives of His Grace Daniel Acharuparambil to promote the education in the Archdiocese.
