Today we talk about what we should do when we need to repot an Orchid that has its roots growing outside of the pot, through the drainage holes! 🦋 More info below! 🦋 Most orchids we grow are epiphytes, meaning all of their roots are aerial, so they can grow perfectly fine outside of the pot.. and they will do so! That is perfectly normal for well established orchids, but it can pose some difficulty when repotting. I always prefer to save the plastic pot, if my orchid already has a very good root system. Pots can be reused for many years and there is no point throwing money out the window and damaging the environment uselessly.
