Properties of Cosets in Group Theory | Lagrange's Theorem and Corollaries

Given a group G and a subgroup H of G, define a ∼ b by the condition that a^(-1)*b is in H. We show this defines an equivalence relation on G. What are the equivalence classes? They are the left cosets of H in G. The properties of cosets are explored intuitively and in relation to Lagrange's Theorem.
