Acmena Smithii is a common lilly pilly that grows along the coast and ranges from Victoria through Queensland. It is especially common in rainforests, but also grows along streams and rivers in drier areas. It is naturally resistant to pysyllid attack, however it can be prone to getting scale and sooty mould. Keep it well watered to maintain a healthy plant. This shrub/tree is an excellent hedging plant, and there are many cultivars of this species. They are commonly sold in nurseries as hedging plants, and you'll find varieties that grow in varying sizes; anything from one to six metres. Don't forget these can also be grown as trees, and are excellent in tropical style gardens.
