We all know how iconic The Simpsons is, and how long it’s been around for. It’s been on the air since Taylor Swift was only four days old. It’s such an important piece of American culture – but America is not the only country it’s been produced for. Tons of other countries have aired their own version of The Simpsons, and not every version has been the exact same as its American counterpart. Sometimes, changes have to be made to match the cultural standards of that country’s audience. Other times, translation issues have led to some hilarious mix-ups. If you thought you were familiar with some of the classic Simpsons catchphrases, like “eat my shorts” and “D’oh!” you’d be surprised how those lines get changed when The Simpsons gets adapted for an overseas audience. And of course, there are some things that audiences in America will be okay with that completely clash against some other countries’ cultures. You’ll be surprised about some of the ways they get around depicting controversial things such as beer, guns, and cigarettes whenever those scenes get shown in other countries. Sometimes they just take out those scenes entirely – but some of their fixes get really creative! And don’t even get us started on how many changes “Al-Shamshoon,” the Arabic adaptation of The Simpsons, made for their version! The Arabic version appears on this list four times! But regardless of what the changes have been, and what country made them, we’re here to tell you what they are!
