0:00 - The start of the day 0:50 - Alice talks about Geyser Lake 1:12 - Geyser Lake 4:21 - A view of the Chui Valley 5:06 - In the next video... According to one version, the Geyser Lake was formed after the strong earthquake known as "Chuisky" in 2003. Alice, can you tell us more about the Geyser Lake? Geyser Lake is located in the Ulagan district of the Altai Republic, about six kilometers from the village of Aktash. It is also known as the Blue or Silver Lake, and it is a unique natural phenomenon. The lake is fed by a large underground spring and three smaller springs. The water in the lake never freezes in winter due to the presence of thermal springs at its bottom. Now, we have Geyser Lake. The name "Geyser Lake" is a bit of a misnomer, as geysers are actually hot springs. Are we all here? It was discovered not long ago during the construction of nearby power lines. Despite the fact that the lake is located only a kilometer away from the Chui tract, it has been very difficult to access until recently. This is because the area around the lake is wild, with impenetrable forests and swamps. However, in 2017, some enterprising individuals rented the local land and built a campground, called "Small Paradise," as well as a wooden path leading all the way to the lake. This has significantly increased the number of tourists who wish to see this unique and beautiful natural phenomenon. Our guide, Alexey, explained that although the lake is named Geyser Lake, it has a distant connection to geysers. It is formed by cold underground springs, he said. The springs at the bottom of the lake, coming out of the ground, throw water and blue clay up with an unpredictable rhythm. The clay settles on the lake bottom, creating a unique pattern that never repeats and can clearly be seen from the shore. Due to the lake's shallow depth of only two meters and the clarity of its water, this effect is particularly striking. The clay does not dissolve in water, which can be considered a miracle. The water in the lake is cold and clean, but it is not recommended to swim in it, as it may harm the pattern formation process and be unsafe for health. The chemical composition of the water has not been studied, so we don't know what it contains. And yet, the Geyser Lake is known as the "Eye of the Earth". Perhaps because, when we gaze intently into its waters, trying to understand the blue patterns on the bottom, the Earth seems to look into our very souls and, of course, it perfectly sees what we are and perhaps even makes some corrections in us, just so that we leave here a better person than we were before.
