"To Tango" (Demon) by illybwoy, Viot & pocke | Geometry Dash 2.2

"To Tango" is an entry for Gecko and Lia's 2-player contest, which I'm glad is a thing since it feels like there's still a lot of potential for cool 2-player gameplay. This is a collaboration by illybwoy and Viot, with some decoration near the end by pocke, that showcases some of that potential in my opinion. It has some "standard" aligned 2-player gameplay near the start, separated icons from 0:10, alternating icons in some later parts, and the two icons interacting with each other from 0:48. Overall, the gameplay is very playful, which is something the creators also utilized for the visual theming. The background sign at 0:14 hints at a party coming up, and that's exactly what you get with glow creating light shows, music notes as decoration, and of course the default animated monsters jumping around from 0:35. For the latter, the bouncy background of happy monsters at 0:48 really sells it. It's really fun to see such cool cohesion between the gameplay and visuals, especially since they relied mostly used default objects and not any custom art. We've seen Viot and pocke do unique theming like this before, but this is my first time seeing something by illybwoy. They all did a great job here, as the quality and theming remains consistent throughout for me. I could see people who prefer modern styles visually not being huge fans of this in every part, given its more raw look, but I'm personally a big fan since it's more like traditional themed design levels. Finally, this level's difficulty largely depends on how experienced you are with 2-player gameplay (and you can play it with a friend to make it easier), but on your own it will likely be about Hard Demon.
