🌿 A Scenic Coastal Walk in San José | Cabo de Gata Adventure 🇪🇸 🌊 Join us as we explore the beautiful coastal town of San José, nestled in the heart of Parque Natural del Cabo de Gata-Níjar! This circular 5.27 km walk begins roughly halfway between Almería and Carboneras, with stunning views, hidden coves, volcanic landscapes, and a few unexpected detours along the way. Starting near a traditional Spanish windmill (molino!), we quickly discover just how green Cabo de Gata can be after recent rains — wild yellow and purple flowers stretching across what’s usually desert terrain. 🌼💜 Along the route, we pass: The breathtaking Playa de los Genoveses Dramatic volcanic rock formations Secluded coves and crystal-clear Mediterranean waters A surprise sighting of the Spanish Guardia Civil out at sea 🚤 There’s a bit of friendly navigation debate, a coastal scramble that almost required shoes and socks off, and plenty of commentary about dream homes, camper vans, and whether we could actually live somewhere so peaceful (where’s Mercadona when you need it?! 😅). We finish our adventure back in San José town, clocking up just over 5 km, and reward ourselves with some well-earned food — the perfect ending to a windy but beautiful walking day.
