Australian Armour and Artillery Museum outside of Cairns, QLD, Australia hosted AusArmourFest once again, giving visitors an opportunity to see armour in operation on their track. The festival ran from 26-28 August 2022. This footage was shot on Friday 26-Aug-2022 and is the Pz.Kpfw 38(t) from the museum's collection, Sd.Kfz 140. The 38(t) was an important part of German armored formations in the first few years of WW2. It was developed and manufactured by ČKD (Českomoravská Kolben-Daněk) over 1939-42 and 1,414 were made in total. Main armament was a Škoda developed 37mm anti-tank gun, designated as 37mm KwK 38(t) L/47.8 by the Germans. In the invasion of Poland (Fall Weiß) is made up about 2% of all panzers deployed. Later, in the invasion of France it accounted for about 9% of German tanks used and formed a large part of the 7th & 8th panzer divisions. By the invasion of Russia (Operation Barbarossa) it made up 23% of panzers deployed. This vehicle chassis also formed the basis of the Marder III Panzerjäger (Sd.Kfz 138 & 139) that fitted the various anti-tank guns, and the Jagdpanzer 38 (Hetzer) Sd.Kfz 138/2 that utilise the 7.5cm Pak 39 L/48 gun.
