The band is a display of the eclectic musical and compositional style of each member - Valmuz is more like the perfect meeting point, which counts on the regular collaboration of Joshua Wheatley (drums & keyboards) and Jamie Murray (drums). The group was the first prize winner at the Johnny Raducannu International Jazz Competition in 2019. Their first album ‘Three Days’ was released in July 2020. Their second album ‘Sinergia’, a collaboration with the Sedajazz Big Band, was nominated for the best jazz album at the Carles Santos Awards 2021. Now the band is about to release their third album, in early 2022. “Valmuz is one of the contemporary European jazz groups that we cannot and must not stop following” - Clasica FM THE BAND PETER CONNOLLY is a guitarist & vocalist born in Dublin, Ireland. From an early age he showed an interest in music and, at 9 years of age, took up the guitar. His natural understanding of music allowed him to develop as a mainly self-taught musician with vast influences such as rock, heavy metal, flamenco and classical music. Peter began his undergraduate studies in Waterford, Ireland at the age of 19. Having studied classical guitar for a year in college, his path took a turn towards jazz & modern music, under the mentorship of #DylanBible, where he graduated with a first class honours degree in performance and composition four years after. The same year he moved to Valencia, Spain, to study a masters degree in #BerkleeCollege of Music, where he studied and performed with some great musicians/improvisers such as #IsraelSandoval, #PoloOrtí & #PericoSambeat. During his time in Valencia, he has played in numerous formations as a band leader and sideman. CHRIS ATWELL is an English bass player and composer born in Bournemouth, England. He took an interest in music by taking up piano lessons at the age of 9. At the age of 12 he stumbled upon the bass while in a music shop to buy a guitar for his 13th birthday. He was introduced to bass players such as #Flea, #JacoPastorius, #VictorWooten, #BootsyCollins, #LarryGraham and #TimCommerford. He was heavily influenced by genres such as funk, fusion, rock, blues, jazz and gospel music and was predominantly self taught until he moved to London at the age of 18. Artists he has worked for as a side-man to date are; #Blue, #RainerHersch, #PericoSambeat, #JorgePardo and was invited by Yamaha to collaborate at La Rioja drum festival in 2017 with artists such as; #DonFormularo, #JoshDion and many others.At the age of 25 he moved to Valencia, Spain to study a Masters in Music Performance at #BerkleeCollege of Music. He has received tuition from some of the best jazz musicians internationally such as; #LaurenceCottle, #JanekGwizdala, #GaryWillis and #PericoSambeat. He started his award winning jazz/rock/fusion project which now goes under the name Valmuz. They most recently released their new big band album “Sinergia” which was recorded towards the end of 2020 and won best jazz album in Spain at the #CarlesSantosAwards 2021. VÍCTOR JIMÉNEZ composer, arranger and saxophonist, is one of the young talents who shape the current generation of front-line musicians on the Spanish jazz scene. The natural restlessness of this saxophonist has allowed him, from an early age, to surround himself with renowned national and international instrumentalists and composers. The versatility and stylistic richness of Víctor make him a highly sought after musician both on the local, national and international scene, taking a prominent position in groups and projects of various characteristics. The sound and personality with which he has been able to give the alto, soprano and EWI sax over the years, and his ability to absorb influences and languages, make him a recurring sideman capable of developing roles in large formations such as Big Bands and ensembles as well as in small format projects, always assuming a prominent role as a soloist. At present, he continues to gain experience through his participation in numerous Jazz Festivals and emblematic clubs and cultural institutions in which he has performed on different occasions together with prominent names such as saxophonist #PericoSambeat, pianist #BruceBarth, trombonist #ToniBelenguer , drummer #StephenKeogh among many others. Likewise, Víctor has also collaborated with artists of other genres such as Brazilian music and pop, accompanying singers such as #SoleGiménez and #ThaïsMorell.
