Mathew Tembo is undeniably one of the best Afropop musicians to hail from Zambia. Originally a reggae singer, Tembo has over the years redefined his music. In the past few years, his compositions have been influenced more by indigenous Zambia's musical elements and jazz than reggae. In "Tizita," inspired by the Ethiopian musical style Tizita, Tembo reminisces about old love, claiming only it was true. Today, love is about cars and money he sings. In Amharic, the official language of Ethiopia, Tizita means memory. However, in Tembo's "Tizita" sung in the Chinsenga language mostly spoken by the Nsenga people of Zambia, he uses the word Tizita to refer to a woman.
