Solo Adventure to Baboon Valley – Offroad Like Never Before – S1EP:09

On July 3, I began my solo journey from Shal towards Baboon Valley. Shal is the last place where cars can reach, and from there the real adventure begins. The track ahead is only for jeeps or bikes, and jeep drivers usually charge around 10,000 PKR for a round trip from Shal to Baboon Top. I decided to continue alone on my bike, and it turned out to be the toughest yet most rewarding ride of my life. The road soon vanished into a rough trail filled with rocks, streams, mud, and even small glaciers crossing the path. As I climbed higher, the track grew more difficult but the scenery kept becoming more magical. Waterfalls dropped from the cliffs, patches of snow lined the track, and green meadows stretched wide across the valley. After almost three and a half hours of riding through this wild landscape, I finally reached Baboon Top. At around 12,731 feet, the place offers a breathtaking 360-degree view, even stretching towards the mountains inside Indian-administered Kashmir. The air feels pure, the meadows bloom with wildflowers, and the whole area is untouched wilderness. It is also known as one of the most dangerous off-road routes in Azad Kashmir, and riding solo on it truly tested my courage and patience. There are no proper facilities at the top—no washrooms, no camping spots—so it’s better to spend the day there and return to Shal or Jagran for the night. But for me, reaching Baboon Top after such a challenging solo ride was nothing less than a dream come true. Standing there, surrounded by endless mountains and looking across to the peaks of India, I felt a moment of pure awe.
