Fake Uber driver allegedly stole thousands in crypto

A man is accused of several felony charges after he allegedly posed as an Uber driver and then stole hundreds of thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency from customers in Scottsdale. It was outside The W Scottsdale near Camelback and Scottsdale roads where police say Nuruhussein Hussein picked up two victims – one in March and one in October. Authorities say he pretended to be an Uber driver with the hidden motive of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in crypto. Prosecutors say the alleged scheme started, in both cases, with Hussein verbally calling out the names of supposed Uber passengers who he saw waiting for their rides. Court documents didn't say how Hussein knew the names of the victims who were waiting for Uber rides. Once the victims were inside the car, court documents allege he had two different ways of getting the victims' phones. He'd either start by saying his phone was dead or messed up, or by offering to help troubleshoot the Uber app when it said one of the victim's drivers had not arrived.
