Resistance: How Protest Shaped Britain & Photography Shaped Protest | On Now At Turner Contemporary

Resistance is curated by Steve McQueen and Clarrie Wallis, with Emma Lewis. Political research is by Sarah Harrison. The exhibition is produced by Tessa Pierce, with assistance from Brittany Crombie. Resistance: How Protest Shaped Britain & Photography Shaped Protest is now showing at Margate's Turner Contemporary. Photographers have witnessed a century of British resistance from the suffragettes marching through London’s streets to the mass protest against the Iraq War. This exhibition, by artist and filmmaker Steve McQueen, will chronicle how ordinary people fought for change between 1903 and 2003. The exhibition is supported by The Ampersand Foundation and the Dana and Albert R. Broccoli Charitable Foundation. Curatorial research is funded by the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art and the learning programme is supported by the De Ying Foundation. Additional support comes from the Exhibition Supporter's Circle: Thomas Dane Gallery, Marian Goodman Gallery, and Veronica and Lars Bane. The publication has been made possible by a grant from The Ampersand Foundation. Turner Contemporary extends its gratitude to its public funders, Kent County Council and Arts Council England, for their ongoing support. Photography featured in this film: 1.
