From the tin, Summer Mixture is a ribbon cut with longer, sometimes thinner strands. The tobacco is moist, and tacky to the touch. The tin aroma is smokey Latakia, with a strong hay presence, a bit of an earthy/soil note, a fair amount of sweetness, and a Tangy/sour component. Upon lightning, I am first greeted by the latakia. The Latakia element is on par with a MM965 style blend. It is smokey, woody, and fragrant, and a good example of the cyprian variety. The Virginias add some sweetness, hay, and a lot of grass. They are sharp and can smoke hot if not careful. The Orientals sport a bright quality, some floral notes, and a touch of spice. The Cavendish is noticeable. It adds a lot of sweetness and rounds out the flavor profile. There is a very mild acrid and bitter note that is noticeable throughout the smoke. Other than the touch of sharpness from the Virginias, this blend smokes cool. It can overheat if you aggressively puff, but you will have to really be freight training the pipe. It stays lit well, and burns at a reasonable speed.
