Before this pedal hit the scene, engineers and musician's had been experimenting with "flanging" affects for years in recordings using reel to reel tape machines. This pedal gave musicians the possibility to accomplish those tones at their feet live on stage. Achieve classic vintage sounds heard on legendary recordings or experiment with the controls or combine with other pedals to come up with something entirely unique and new.
