April '23 Summit: State of FinOps Tooling Insights, Normalizing Multi-Cloud Billing Data, and FOCUS

This summit featured community speakers who dove into FinOps tooling, normalizing billing and usage data, and perspective on what FinOps tooling ecosystem will look like in the future. This is in response to our summit survey, where you all requested that we take time to feature deeper, technical FinOps stories from our practitioners. We also took some time to review some State of FinOps tooling data, gave you all a first look at our interactive FinOps assessment tool, and introduced the FinOps Cost and Usage Specification (FOCUS) Project! Our newest members from EY kicked off the call as we were joined by Zeba Khan, Sr. Manager, and Ravi Gupta, Managing Director, who told everyone a bit about their FinOps journeys. Krisztián Borbély and Lóránt Kiss from Amadeus shared their vision of the FinOps ecosystem from a practitioner’s perspective. We heard from Zach Stitham and Noel Crowley from Fidelity on building custom internal scorecards. Sanjna Srivatsa of VMware introduced us to "Tidy Data" and provided some insight on normalizing billing and usage data across the cloud service providers. We also got to hear from Udam Dewaraja about the new FinOps Open Cost & Usage Specification (FOCUS) Project. Last, but not least, we got an update from our Cost Allocation and Managing Anomalies Working Groups.
