First ever Alaskan experience in March 2024. Before this trip into the Arctic circle, we had amazing luck to witness brightest Northern lights AKA Aurora Borealis followed by snow mobile adventure and then comes another bucket list event...crossing in to the Arctic circle. A 14-hour guided round trip to Arctic circle departed Fairbanks at 9:45am under the great guidance and safe driving skills of Vanessa. This tour was conducted by the Northern Alaska Tour Company. The tour is typically 13 to 14 hours in length. Approximately 9 to 10 hours are spent in the tour vehicle. The remaining time is spent exploring the sights. A journey this long seemed challenging at first but once on the bus, it really got smooth and interesting. Little over 4hrs into journey - Stopped at Dalton highway sign board. This is not a drive to be taken lightly specially in the winters. There are only 3 location in 500 miles with gas or diesel, no hospitals, grocery stores or hotels and very little cell phone coverage. Stopped at The Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) which is an oil transportation system spanning Alaska, it’s an 800-miles (1,287 km) long, pipeline that conveys oil from Prudhoe Bay, on Alaska's North Slope to Valdez in south. 2:30pm (Approx.): Arrival at Yukon River. Restroom facilities available and lunch available for purchase. Another 3 hours ride until we reached the Arctic Circle. 5:30pm (Approx.): Arrival at Arctic Circle.
