He reached out to me with the idea of animating a simple, fun, and psychedelic music video. Me and my animation partner Brittany Penn animated this 3 minute animation in only 1 month! The tight deadline acted as an engine to experiment with simple styles, parts with limited animation, and a frenetic animating process that flows with the energy of the song. Here's a little info from the Emmett's About section on Spotify: "Bobby Emmett has played his way through Nashville the last decade as an in-demand session player, recently returning to his roots in Detroit with a Grammy and Emmy win. He spent the better part of 8 years playing keys for Sturgill Simpson. They met at the beginning of his career when Emmett was convinced by producer Dave Cobb to come to Nashville and play on the up-and-coming artist’s debut record. He spent years touring with Simpson’s band, bringing his Detroit rock & soul roots with him. They won a Grammy for best country record in 2017. 2020 held a nomination for rock album of the year, Sound & Fury, which Emmett was also a producer on. Emmett continued with Sturgill up until the pandemic put the axe on their biggest tour yet. Emmett has recorded with Alice Cooper, John Prine, Kurt Vile, John Brannon and Easy Action, Shooter Jennings, Dan Auerbach, Bombino, The Sights, and Rodriguez, amongst others. At home he continues to dip his fuzz in that good old Detroit grease, soaking his songs in the sounds that grew up around him - Motown, The Stooges, Plastic Ono, early Funkadelic.
