Floating Lines is a #kinetic and #audioreactive light sculpture, which create a synaesthetic experience of motion, colors and sound visualization. A bright object comes from the dark while morphing it self shape and colors by following the surrounding sounds, a sort of celestial mechanics which connect the points of stil unknown constellations in the outer space. The polygonal shape of the structure is moved in the space by three motors as winch of three steel wires controlled by MIDI messages over Arduino Leonardo. The ten light segments that make up Floating Lines, are covered of RGB #LED strips mapped to four different range of sound frequency Blue (Low), Red (Mid), Green (High), White (Noise) which display real-time music composition by luminous impulses. The segments are randomly activated by a MIDI generative device. This work is part of my topical experiences in mechatronics automation applied to the creative processes in music composition, digital art and open-source opportunities.Following the idea of my previous works, also in this installation all automations, lights and music are fully controlled by a single workstation, in order to give a common language to connect sound gesture, mechanical movements and visual experience.
