In this video, Paul Anthony reviews the CigarMedics HumidiMeter which, as the name implies, can be used to accurately measure the relative humidity of individual cigars. Check out our written review of the HumidiMeter at: https://bespokeunit.com/articles/ciga... SHOP The HumidiMeter on CigarMedics: https://cigarmedics.com/shop/ 00:00 Introduction The CigarMedics HumidiMeter is a gadget that is able to measure the humidity level of cigars and then display this number as Relative Humidity which is a benchmark that most cigar smokers are already familiar with. In this video, we have the CigarMedics HumidiMeter, the Cigarmedics calibration tool, and a custom-fit travel case for the HumidiMeter. All of these are sold separately by CigarMedics though they remain relatively affordable. 00:30 How To Measure Relative Humidity With The HumidiMeter Operating the CigarMedics HumidiMeter is pretty simple. However, before getting a reading on a cigar, we are first going to want to calibrate the device. Calibration is a lot easier than it sounds. We simply turn on the HumidiMeter, touch the two prongs to the two ports on the calibration device, and wait for the display to read 70%. Once this is done, the HumidiMeter will be ready to use. To measure the relative humidity of a cigar, one only has to insert the two prongs into the foot or cap of a cigar and wait one or two seconds for the display to offer a static RH value. 01:35 How Does The HumidiMeter Work? While the HumidiMeter offers readings in terms of relative humidity, this tool actually measures the humidity or moisture levels within cigars. Most cigars will have a moisture level between 10-15%. Before displaying its result, the HumidiMeter will convert the humidity measure into relative humidity so as to give cigar smokers actionable data. 01:59 Optimal Cigar Relative Humidity 0-60% RH: Cigar is very dry; lower numbers can lead to cracking of the wrapper, faster burning, and bitter taste. 60-70% RH: Often considered the optimal range, these levels of RH will result in the best cigar draw, even burn lines, and best taste. 70%+ RH: If the RH of a cigar is 70% or higher, it may be difficult to draw, the burn may be uneven, and/or the cigar may develop mold while in storage. 02:45 Use Cases For The HumidiMeter There are a number of use cases for the HumidiMeter that come to mind right off the bat. These include: Testing cigars soon after purchase, whether they be from an online seller or a brick & mortar retailer. Measure the RH levels of cigars being stored in large humidors. Since large humidors may have different RH levels within them, the HumidiMeter can be used to determine whether the humidity levels are higher/lower in one area of a humidor versus another, i.e. the top shelf vs. the bottom shelf. Experiment with different RH levels in the same cigar and see which relative humidity level provides you with the most enjoyable smoking experience. 05:21 Cost & Value For Money The cost structure of the HumidiMeter reviewed here is as follows: 1. HumidiMeter: $30 2. Calibrating Device: $12 3. Travel Case: $10 All in all, for slightly more than $50, you get a tool that can certainly seasoned collectors and neophyte cigar smokers alike to better enjoy the hobby. In my opinion, this certainly makes the HumidiMeter a worthwhile investment and an ideal gift for cigar smokers. Already used the CigarMedics HumidiMeter or have any questions?
