LCSC is the medical terminology used for lower segment caesarian section. So the lower segment caesarian section abbreviation is LSCS. LSCS caesarians are cesareans . Why they are called as lower segment is because we are cutting the uterus and the other layers of the uterus in a transverse incision, that is the pfannenstiel incision. Usually the LSCS caesarians are done under spinal anesthesia, in which the patient is awake. If for some reason the anesthetist has to give the patient a general anesthesia, which is in certain medical and obstetric condition, in that particular scenario, the patient is not awake, but otherwise the patient is awake in the cesarean sections done under spinal anesthesia because only from the waist downwards the patient is numb.
