World Piano Teachers Association USA-Missouri http://www.wptausamissouri.com Young Musician Series - Anthony Wu Beethoven Sonata No.2 in A Major Op.2 No.2 Kreisler/Rachmaninoff Liebeslied Anthony Wu, piano Anthony Wu has been playing the piano for 10 years. He is currently studying with Dr. Peter Miyamoto, Professor of Piano at the University of Missouri School of Music, and previously studied with Dr. Natalia Bolshakova and Rachel Hahn. As winner of the 2020 Missouri State MTNA Senior Competition in Piano, Anthony recently competed in the MTNA West Central Division Competition. After winning the 2020 MMAMTA/Odyssey Pre-Collegiate Concerto Competition, he performed the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Major, Op. 15 with full orchestra on the Odyssey Chamber Music Series. Anthony was also a featured soloist on the Missouri Symphony’s Hot Summer Nights Concert “Mr. Beethoven Visits Columbia,” and as six-time winner of the Piano Showcase Auditions, performed in Columbia’s historic Missouri Theatre multiple times. He was also winner of the 2014 Missouri Music Teachers Association Pre-Collegiate Auditions, and recently participated in the Vivac-e Music Festival. Anthony is a junior at Columbia’s Rock Bridge High School, where he also plays trumpet. He has studied trumpet with Dr. Iskander Akhmadullin, Professor of Trumpet at the University of Missouri for five years, and participates in the school’s marching concert and jazz ensembles, as well as in a brass quintet. Anthony has also achieved high honors on trumpet, performing with the 2018 and 2019 Missouri All-State Bands and receiving “Gold Medal” ratings with his brass quintet at the Missouri State High School Activities Association’s Solo and Small Ensemble Festival. He is co-president of Rock Bridge’s Modern Music Masters chapter and loves to go on long runs in his free time.
