Mário Macilau (b. 1984, Mozambique) is a multi-disciplinary artist, acclaimed for his photographic works. Macilau’s art touches upon topics of identity, socio-political injustices, and environmental conditions. His work has been part of solo and group exhibitions, including WAAU’s first exhibition ‘World African Artists United’ that took place this year in Lisbon. The multi-award-winning artist’s work has also been featured in the exhibition “A World in Common: Contemporary African Photography”, at the Tate Modern.
