Separated by the Heilong River, which is about 750 meters wide, the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk, the capital of Amur Oblast, is just across the river. Before 1858, when the Qing Dynasty and Tsarist Russia signed the Treaty of Aigun, this area was part of China's territory. Once a small village, Heihe gradually developed into one of China’s most important border cities due to the growth of China-Russia trade. It is home to the most crucial China-Russia trade port: Heihe Port!
