Dark Souls vs Mortal Shell // Will a Souls fan enjoy Mortal Shell? - Mortal Shell Review - Mortal Shell Beta Review Mortal Shell is the next game in a long line of Dark Souls inspired action RPG's, known more commonly now as Soulslike games or the Soulslike genre! Having played a huge selection of these soulslike games I sat down with the recently released Mortal Shell beta to discuss the similarities to Dark Souls and see if its just another Soulslike or is it one of the best Soulslike games to emerge. Developed by Cold Symmetry, Mortal Shell exploded onto the scene when it was announced this year, immediately grabbing the attention of the Souls community and sparking comparisons and Dark Souls vs Mortal Shell / Mortal Shell vs Dark Souls conversations throughout the fanbase. Take one look at some Mortal Shell gameplay and you can see the game wears it's influences on it's sleeve, Mortal Shell is clearly heavily influenced by the works of From Soft and it's not afraid to show it. In this video I share my Mortal Shell beta gameplay and discuss the Mortal Shell combat & comparisons to Dark Souls / the other Soulslike games. These Mortal Shell impressions come purely from the current Mortal Shell open beta and the idea for the video was inspired by the immediate Mortal Shell Dark Souls conversations that were happening when the game was announced. Aesthetically speaking Mortal Shell has a huge amount in common with the Souls / Soulslike games, but when you start to look a little closer you can see that this Soulslike 2020 game is doing enough to set it apart from the competition. All footage captured in this video was captured on PC at the highest settings, locked at 60FPS.
