Conrad Susa (1935 - 2013) "Transformations" An entertainment in two acts from the book of Anne Sexton Transformations is the ideal chamber opera for the young artists of the DNOA and a chamber ensemble from the Royal Conservatoire the Hague. Premiered in 1973, the two-hour work for eight singers and eight instrumentalists is based on Pulitzer Prize–winner Anne Sexton’s book of the same name. Witty, edgy and full of Freudian insight, the libretto vividly inhabits the modern world by updating the dark and bizarre world of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. The music inspired by classical, jazz, & popular styles is equally droll and contemporary. Staged by the young Dutch creative team Rennik-Jan Neggers (director), Sanne van Oostervink (costumes), Tom de Ronde (physical dramaturgy), Jasper Nijholt (light), and conducted by the Australian Sam Weller, it promises to be an unforgettable evening of dynamic music theatre at its best. 07, 08, 10 February 2024 @ 19.30 | 11.
