Many women with deep endometriosis may experience back pain as their only symptom, without any pelvic discomfort. This back pain often arises from the overworking of abdominal muscles due to chronic sensations of endometriosis. As a compensatory mechanism, the muscles of the lateral abdominal wall start to work harder, leading to muscle fatigue and back pain. It’s important to understand that even after successful treatment for endometriosis, this muscle fatigue can persist for up to 6 to 8 weeks. So, if you’re feeling better in the pelvic area but still dealing with back pain post-surgery, don’t worry! This is a normal part of the healing process and should resolve over time. Effective counseling before surgery is essential to set the right expectations for recovery. If you or someone you know is dealing with this issue, you can benefit greatly from our masterclasses on YouTube that dive deeper into endometriosis-related pain and its management.
