With a rare political stance shouted by a pro-Palestinian activist right before the Chupinazo firecracker, Spain’s San Fermin festival began on Saturday (July 6) with thousands gathering in Pamplona’s main square. The Chupinazo is a traditional firecracker that opens a week of celebrations and controversial bull running. The group Yala Nafarroa por Palestina lit the fuse as thousands of revellers dressed in traditional white outfits with red scarves erupted in celebrations, marking the start of the famous running of the bulls.
