Meet Basanti, an 8-month-old Chihuahua puppy who came to our clinic with a sudden swelling in her right eye. Upon examination, we discovered that she had corneal hydrops, a condition where water accumulates in the layers of the cornea, making it bulge like a big bubble. The risk of full-thickness rupture and loss of the eye was high, so we performed a third eyelid flap procedure. In this video, we explain what corneal hydrops is and demonstrate how the third eyelid flap works to protect the eye and restore the cornea's surface.
