Original live video courtesy of @FOBBVCAM https://www.friendsofbigbearvalley.org/ The opinions presented on this channel do not necessarily reflect the opinions of FOBBV The video opens with an empty nest but Jackie & Shadow are close by and exchange Good Morning chortles ♫ Jackie & Shadow's chortles are their form of communication as a bonded pair. In the afternoon, a raven came back to the nest and it immediately went to the first egg that was breached that was out of the nest bowl towards the rails. The raven proceeds to eat the shell and contents as nature's clean up crew at work. A second raven joins after a few minutes and is smaller than the one eating on the nest. Interesting to see the larger raven feeding the smaller one at 07:08 timestamp. It may be feeding its grown offspring. The larger raven will continue to eat the eggshell remains and then pick up a piece of the eggshell with its beak and take to the front porch and fly off with it at 09:42 timestamp. At the same time this is happening, Jackie & Shadow flew in to Lookout Snag and were mating 12:08 timestamp! The second raven will fly off and begin cawing, Jackie & Shadow fly off LS after them. The cam finds them on the Cactus Snag and then they fly off and one is seen back on LS. One adult flies off and we see one adult on Twin Pines. Neither Jackie or Shadow came to the nest today. This is actually good news as it allows for the ravens to clean up the remaining eggshells left on the nest. Jackie & Shadow are seen mating today which again is a very positive sign that they want to start all over again with future eggs. It is time to look to the future with hope of a re-clutch for them. 💗 This is a sad turn of events for Jackie & Shadow. With both eggs gone, it could however, present an opportunity for Jackie to reset her breeding hormones and re-clutch. Jackie needs to stop incubating in order to trigger egg production. Normally it takes about 3-4 weeks for a female's body to be able to lay a second clutch. It is still early in the season and there is plenty of time for Jackie to lay eggs again. ♥ We love you Jackie & Shadow! Thank you for watching!
