Tsho-Rolpa Glacier Lake is situated at an altitude of 4558m, in between the mountain ranges of Langtang and Everest. It’s area is changing. As per the record of 1957-59 it’s area was 0.23km square. It’s area has been surveyed 6 times and as per the latest record made in 2018 it’s area is 1.8km square. It is largest moraine dammed glacial lake, considered as one of the dangerous glacier in Nepal. It is located within the catchment of Rowlaing Khola, rapidly receding Trakarding Glacier and Trambau Glacier. It was in danger of outburst so in 2000 opne channel was constructed. Trek starts at low altitude and ultimately reaches the height of 4558m. There are interesting terraced fields, fast flowing rivers, forest, flowers and mountains like Gauri Shankar and Melungtse and others. Rushing to Tsho Ropla within ¾ days might not be good decision as travel may face the problem of high altitude thus slow and steady pace with adequate time for acclimatization would be best option to reach Tsho Ropla. Tashi Lapcha pass trek is one of the most challenging pass taking to the maximum height of 5775 meters from the sea level. Trek lands at the two beautiful valleys of Rolwaling valley and Khumbhu Valley along with thrilling experience of crossing the Tashi Lapcha Pass.
