There were no injuries, and no one was inside at the time of the explosion in Haret Sakhr, about 25 kilometres (16 miles) northeast of Beirut. Meanwhile in Beirut, the political leader of Lebanon's Druse community, Walid Jumblatt, urged Syrian President Bashar Assad on Sunday to cooperate with the UN investigation into the death of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. Jumblatt said it was necessary to establish the truth and he backed a call by Saad Hariri, Rafik's son, for an international court to try those responsible for the February 14 assassination. The UN report, released on Thursday, accused Syria of cooperating with its investigation "to a limited degree" and said that Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa wrote a letter to the UN commission that contained false information. Syrian officials rejected this on Saturday, saying their government had cooperated fully with the UN commission and accusing anti-Syrian witnesses of lying to the commission. Jumblatt said he rejected any international sanctions against the Syrian people. Meanwhile, supporters of murdered former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri gathered at his graveside on Sunday, waving Lebanese flags and signs reading "Truth." The demonstrators demanded pro-Syrian Lebanese president Emile Lahoud step down in the wake of UN accusations that members of the Syrian and Lebanese intelligence services knew of the plot to kill Hariri.
