An injured songbird was recently treated at Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Hospital, which is part of the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Read the full story here: https://www.vet.cornell.edu/news/2022... 🐦 --- This eastern phoebe was found caught in a glue trap meant for insect pests. Eastern phoebes often build their nests on or around human buildings, which may explain why this bird got too close to the trap. Glue traps can catch non-pest animals easily and pose a threat to wildlife. Rescuers removed the bird from the trap, but it lost several flight feathers and suffered an injured leg in the process. Without flight feathers, the bird will not be able to fly. At the Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Hospital, the team is assessing the bird’s injuries and prepares to transfer it to a wildlife rehabilitator. It will stay in captivity for a month until its feathers grow back. When possible, consult a pest-control professional instead of using glue traps. If you find wildlife in one of these traps, do not try to free it yourself, and instead call wildlife experts near you. --- Learn more about the wildlife hospital: https://www.vet.cornell.edu/hospitals...
