Starting this year with a quiet contemplative tune, here’s an O’Carolan air I got from the Mayo harp legend Laoise Kelly. Laoise’s music has been an enormous inspiration for me over the years and there’s a lot to be said about the healing effect of the instrument when the harp is in capable hands, which in our times is a necessity for many. I first heard this air played by Laoise at a late night session in Spiddal, Co. Galway, a memory I will cherish forever.
