The other day I saw the Samson C01U USB mic on sale for $25, so I bought it so I could make a test recording and see if it sounded alright for podcasting. Overall, it's not a bad mic. I wish the pop filter I got was a little better (sorry about the plosives in this video), but it definitely works as a beginner podcast microphone. Here are the links to the mic, pop filter/shock mount, and boom arm I used to make this video: Samson C01U: Shock Mount / Pop Filter: http://amzn.to/2zbEw99 Neewer Boom Arm: http://amzn.to/2zbwoFl Those are affiliate links because why not. My final thoughts: Overall this is a decent mic for the price. You'll definitely want to be careful about mic technique and watch out for pops/plosives, and you'll need to do some noise removal to take out that line noise (it's more noticeable when compared to my Beta 87A), but it's a solid mic for the price. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below! P.S. I'm about ready to upgrade webcams so I can get higher-quality video for these screencasts. What are you folks using?
