Dr. Ronald Ghossein joins as the featured expert discussant. 0:00 Webinar 6:10 Paradigm Shift Dr. Cunningham talks about revising a nomenclature for an encapsulated follicular variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma in order to reduce over treatment of certain tumors, which changed diagnoses for many patients around the world. 18:00 NIFTP Management Recommendations Dr. Cunningham discusses the the paper “a comprehensive study on the diagnosis and management of noninvasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary-like nuclear features,” recommending routine follow up for NIFTP only, active surveillance and routine follow up for NIFTP + 1 PTMC, and additional treatment and active surveillance for NIFTP + significant malignancy. 32:00 NIFTP Treatment Findings Dr. Ghossein describes that encapsulated follicular variant without invasion (now called NIFTP) treatment by lobectomy alone had no recurrence and no lymph node metastasis, reflected in many different kinds of literature.
