We’re so happy with how the video turned out, and the positive responses we’ve been getting. Yay! Congrats to us all! Our house manager does these things: supervises/ hires the housekeeper and manages payroll and benefits (for any staff we request, such as the gardener, too) sets-up and pays our utility bills pays our annual property taxes, HOA fees, and home insurance their team does repairs (plumbing, roof, electrical) or can connect us with repair and renovation experts communicates utility updates (reports outages, for example) keeps an eye on anything the house might need (such as gas tank refills) upon request, and for an additional fee, manages rentals of our house House/property managers are typically paid by the size of the house. Our 3-bedroom house costs $135 U.S./month. It’s not necessary to have a house manager, but we have found it very helpful, especially as we continue to learn Spanish. Most of our expat friends in SMA who own homes or condos have house managers, even if they’re fluent in Spanish. A lot of people who live here also travel, and a house manager makes that easier, as it’s someone who represents and advocates for you in your absence, and takes care of your home. We think finding local recommendations is the key to finding a great house manager.
