John Galt's Speech - Greg Gomes - From The Book Atlas Shrugged

John Galt was titled 'The Ultimate Man" by Ayn Rand. After reading the book I was i was very turned on by the role as an actor and wanted to bring him to life. At the time, no one had ever played John Galt on film - that also turned me on. I took the 3 hour / 60 page speech from the book and cut it down to 10 pages. The edits came easy to me - I made bold choices. Then I cut it down to 2 pages. I then enlisted the help of Debra Deliso and we arranged it and cut it to a page and a half with a narrative so the subjects made sense. It really is a marvel how it edited down - clocking in at just over 7 and a half minutes from 3 hours. I then enlisted the help of Richard D. Hawkins and we shot the monologue in one day on a location down on USC Campus - we had the perfect room to stop the motor of the world. The Music was very important and was another key choice in the making of the video. New people discover the Video every day as new fans discover the book very day. I hope the new fans of the book enjoy seeing John Galt in the flesh upon finishing the book. Ayn approved as my preparation and dedication are duly noted. I hope you enjoy it.
