ABSOLUTELY!!! The Ap Index wasn’t very high, but it was the first clear night in a while, so Corey set an alarm and we are so glad he did! We got an unbelievable show between the aurora and the Perseid meteor shower. And this time, we finally had a camera that could capture it in real time to share with you guys! We had planned an early morning hike up to Exit Glacier the next day but that got pushed back a little bit, because we were up for over 2 hours in the middle of the night watching aurora show! Visiting Exit Glacier again 6 years later was crazy especially when you could clearly see how much the glacier has receded in that short amount of time. There are so many great hikes in Alaska and the rest of this country for that matter. Even if you only have a short period of time, it is always worth it to get outside and get some fresh air and exercise! If you are ever in Seward, be sure to stop at the adorable little blue van for some coffee and donuts - Caines Head Coffee and Sweet Shoppe! And tell them FOS sent you! Next up was finally taking the time to drive through the very long tunnel to Whittier. The last time we were in Alaska, we didn’t stop as we were told by so many that it wasn’t worth it. Man, are we glad we didn’t listen to that advice on this trip! Whittier turned out to be WAY more than we planned for and proved to be another reminder to “Stay flexible, my friends”! PS.
