In this video I see for myself just what the bible has to say about the age of the earth, the oldest age the bible could possibly give for the earth, and what that means for people who believe the bible. Basically, the view that I come to is that the bible (read literally) supports the young earth position, so if you wish to be a consistent christian, you should also believe the ridiculous idea that the earth is roughly 6000 years old. And if you want to avoid believing that by not taking the bible literally, then you have no good reason to take any other part of the bible literally, such as Jesus’s resurrection, or even the literal existence of god or heaven. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Also, I wrote the script for this video and then realized after filming that the bible gives information for how old Isaac was when he had Jacob. I include this information in the on-screen text, but not in the words I speak. So really we only have to do extrapolation for 39 generations for Matthew's genealogy (rather than 40) and 54 generations for Luke's genealogy (rather than 55), starting from 2106 years after creation to the birth of Jesus.
