Garranos, the wild horses of Portugal.

Once in Portugal, I couldn't help but visit the mountains to the north. After all, wild horses live there, my passion since childhood. I went to the granite peaks covered with shrubs. On the way, one often saw free-roaming horses in the mountains. The vast majority of tourists photograph them with the firm belief that they are the famous Garrano horses. But these are actually the farmers' released horses. You can get close to them and they are not afraid. Early in the morning I saw two silhouettes on the slopes, which differed from the farm horses in stature and body language. As soon as they felt me, they disappeared into the tall bushes and moved deftly over the stones. I followed the tracks for half a day, crossing numerous creeks in thick, tall scrub and trying to get closer. Eventually I noticed a back and mane in the bushes, I managed to get really close and film them for a while. They were always alert and kept their distance. The pouring rain made further filming impossible, but I was happy nonetheless.
