We combine Gordon’s Music Learning Theory with body music and playful activities, that take inspiration from the creativity and the ideas of the children. 1️⃣ VIDEO: children explore the music and their rhythmical elements walking around the room using different movements. ✅ skills: coordination, space-time organisation, team work, body awareness, listening. 2️⃣ VIDEO: Time for tonal patterns. Here, after months of singing patterns without names, we move to verbal association and children learn how to sing and recognise patterns taken from the harmony of the song (useful in the future to compose and improvise). ✅ skills: pitch, coordination, team-work, listening. 3️⃣ VIDEO: We explore again the song with different a movement, usually using the children’s ideas. Children are also working in couples, so the type of interaction is different. ✅ This is a fundamental moment of our classes. Differentiate the distribution of the group facilitates the development on social skills and the awareness of our own feelings. 4️⃣ VIDEO: Time for rhythm patterns. This time we add sounds based on the function on the rhythm. Super interesting! 5️⃣VIDEO: we move to a more structured activity, to sing some more tonal patterns in a smaller group. ✅ Children need to cooperate and coordinate their movements to make this game work and they love it! This moment of the class also allows me to observe them better and check on their musical and movement development.
