Nebula Just Wants a FRIEND! | Shiba Inu Puppy Meeting Cats! | Do Shiba Inus Get Along with Cats?

Nebula got to meet and make friends with a pair of 3 month old kittens! This was our puppy's second time meeting cats and it went better than we ever imagined. These two cats live at one of our parents' house and so we knew that our next trip home was going to mean the introduction of Nebula to the kittens. We had our fingers crossed that our puppy would make friends with the cats but we really were unsure of just how things would go. Nebula has a pretty cautious vibe but has never had any aggressive tendencies towards people or animals, so we did feel confident that she wouldn't injure the cats. However, we expected the kittens to be hesitant around Nebula due to her being much larger (she's 15 pounds and these kittens were just 4 pounds!) We had Nebula lay on a specific blanket for the drive back to our hometown and then delivered that blanket to the cats' house a few days before we brought Nebula over. This allowed them to at least become more familiar and comfortable with her scent before they had to live together. It's hard to say for sure whether or not the blanket trick really helped in this instance because the cats never fully came around to being Nebula's friend. However, we definitely saw a ton of growth in the kittens' comfort around her over the couple days we were around. Next time we visit, the kittens will have greatly closed the size gap between them and Nebula and so we think they'll really become dog and cat best friends then!
