Hey everyone! In this video I work on a regular customers Honda 4514 tractor that has a very bad vibration coming from the input shaft of the transaxle. It's an NLA part from Honda. A few options that were told to me was to either have a machine shop make a whole new part and make it slightly smaller for it to have an interference fit with the splines which are still good with the input shaft, or to use loctite 660 which is specifically formulated for this application. A big thank you to my wife who found a Facebook group dedicated to these machines which apparently have quite the cult following. between that group and another small engine group I got the suggestions on how to fix this for the customer. While I did not film every part of the repair I want to give a shout out to Boston Lawn Mower over in Westborough Massachusetts. Every Honda dealer has visibility to each other's inventory and it was suggested to me by Biddy Saw in Mississippi (another Honda Dealer who has helped me in the past) to contact them as they showed they had the part I needed. Jim my contact over there was very helpful hunting for the companion flange adapter. Unfortunately due to an inventory labeling error it was not the case. However they have a very large facility, and chances are good that you may find an old obsolete part lying around. Highly recommend them. It is getting increasingly difficult to service these machines because of the exact issue I cite. They were so well designed and built back in the mid to late '80s that many of them are still in service running today. Granted there are no longer certain parts available from Honda there are more than a few junkyard available parts to keep them running for many years more if you know where to look.
