Dell PowerEdge R410 build PART 5 | Expanding FreeNAS storage by building Supermicro 836 JBOD / DAS

This is the 5th video in the Dell PowerEdge R410 build series. Up until this point, we've been getting the hardware setup and putting FreeNAS on a USB/mSATA SSD to turn this R410 into a NAS device. In this video, I'm going to expand the storage of this R410 NAS with an external JBOD / DAS / Disk shelf chassis with 16-bays. I'm using the Supermicro 836 chassis, and converting it to a JBOD. First, I'll show how to build it using "traditional" methods, so you'll understand the fundamental components needed to build your own JBOD. However, I'll rebuild it again using "unconventional" approach that costs much less.
