Dr Andre Nel Hair Transplant Clinic HAIR TRANSPLANT FUT/FUE COMBO TECHNIQUE FUT/FUE combo technique, harvesting 3320 Follicle Units transplanted into the Frontal Zone (hairline; front temporal angles; frontal core) 7 years 8 months post op A SIGNIFICANT TRANSFORMATION OF A YOUNG PERSON’S LIFE Restoring the Frontal Zone, transplanting 3320 follicle units via FUT/FUE harvesting from SDA - Patient Journey: This was a One-Day procedure with planning and incisions done the evening prior to surgery day. Harvesting and adjunctive treatments: FUT Strip Harvest from Safe Donor Area (SDA) as well as FUE harvesting above and below the FUT Strip. The FUT Strip yielded 2500 follicle units and an additional 820 follicle units were harvested via FUE technique from the SDA. SMP (scalp micro pigmentation) was done in the Frontal Zone 18 months post-op. Stabilization of AGA with medical treatment was achieved prior to the surgery. In all cases, including this one, the patient underwent a pre-operative consultation with Dr Nel at HSW Clinic before committing to the procedure. Tailored Treatment Plan: In this case, Dr Nel recommended that 3320 grafts (follicle units) to be transplanted into the frontal zone. Harvesting was done via FUT Strip surgery obtaining 2500 follicle units and an additional 820 follicle units were harvested from the SDA above and below the FUT strip harvest to get to the required number of 3320 follicle units from the SDA (Safe Donor Area). I decided on a FUT/FUE combo harvest to protect the Donor Area. The patient was only 22 years of age at the time of the hair transplant. This is a young age for a large procedure, but we had to do something significant at the time because the patient was emotionally very badly affected by his hair loss. Except for the frontal tuft, he had complete receding and hair loss of the frontal zone which completely changed the Aspect Ratio of his appearance. This made him look many years older and it made him feel very insecure and there was a sadness in his eyes because of this sudden change in appearance and it felt to him like a dire situation. I made sure that the patient committed fully to the medical treatment prior to proceeding with the hair transplant. Now, almost 8 years later he has remained completely committed to the medical treatment. Over the years I have done cases in young patients who experienced crises due to rapid and significant hair loss at a young age and this dramatically affected their self-esteem and made them feel very insecure and, in some instances, there was severe depression which required intervention by psychiatrists and psychologists. In every single case the hair transplant completely transformed the individual into a person almost unrecognizable from before, not only from a physical appearance perspective, but tenfold more importantly was the energetic transformation on the inside of the person which changed the trajectory of their lives from a downward spiral into a very positive upward direction. These cases have been a tremendous inspiration to me in my work. It is difficult to describe what pleasure it has given me over the years to see how my hair restoration work transformed their lives.
