Named after businessman and long-time Mayor of Kings Mountain (1965-88) John Henry Moss, Moss Lake was considered to be one of the top five most important events of the 20th century in Cleveland County history. Not only does Moss Lake assure that Kings Mountain has an ample supply of fresh water, but it has also become a favorite spot for families! Spanning more than 2,000 acres, with 57 miles of shoreline and 1,660 acres of fresh water, Moss Lake is a recreation destination in Cleveland County where you can have fun, watch amazing sunsets and maintain a safe social distance. With boat ramps, campgrounds, picnic areas and a lake stocked with bass and crappie, Moss Lake is a great place to spend the day or a weekend getaway camping, fishing or boating.
